John E. Murray is an associate in the firm of Rachlis Duff Adler & Peel, LLC, practicing in the areas of general commercial & contractual disputes, consumer litigation, defamation, and receivership & securities litigation.  Mr. Murray also has experience in a variety of other legal areas, including insurance coverage, casualty, construction defect, medical malpractice defense, civil rights litigation, prosecuting crimes, and defending indigent criminal defendants.

Mr. Murray is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 2009), where he served as an Associate Editor of the University of Detroit Mercy Law Review as well as a Senior Member of the Moot Court Board of Advocates.  Mr. Murray won the Chicago Bar Association National Moot Court Competition in 2008, where he was named third-best oralist overall and his team received the award for third-best brief submission.  In addition, Mr. Murray is a recipient of the Ferd J. & Lottie Chmielnicki Dean’s Scholarship for academic achievement and CALI Book Awards for Civil Rights Litigation and Land-Use Planning.  Mr. Murray was also inducted into the Dean’s Honor Society.

Mr. Murray earned his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University, James Madison College (B.A., Political Theory & Constitutional Democracy, 2006).  He also studied abroad at the University of London (England) and Trinity College (Dublin, Ireland), where his studies focused on Comparative Legal Systems and Western European Politics.
